4 Tips for Planning Your Wedding Date

Sep 21, 2023

Planning your wedding is a big deal, and one of the biggest choices you'll make is the wedding venue. Wedding venues are a hot commodity and if you've got your heart set on a particular location, you should focus on booking it sooner rather than later. According to Zippia, an expert job industry platform, there were approximately 1,934,982 weddings in the U.S. in 2021. As this number continues to soar, let's go over the importance of booking your ideal wedding location as soon as you can.

1. Don't Procrastinate

If there's one aspect of wedding planning that you really can't afford to procrastinate on, it's venue reservations. There is a high level of competition when it comes to reserving that special location for your special day. In fact, you really can't even set a date until you have researched availability for your venue. To keep from getting disappointed, you should probably plan to have a few different venues in mind.

2. Consider Time of the Year

You will even need to consider the wedding venue in order to choose what time of year to get married. You should keep in mind that most weddings occur in September or October. The next most popular months are June, August, May, and July. January is actually the least popular month to get married for obvious reasons. If getting a specific venue is very important to you, you may need to reconsider your dates in order to make the venue happen.

3. Factor in the Scarcity of Venues During Wedding Season

If you have your heart set on a very popular or exclusive venue and you simply must have your wedding during a popular wedding month, such as June, you need to book your venue at least a year in advance. The more specific you are, the more limited your choices and the more you'll likely wind up paying.

4. Consider Your Engagement Timeline

Your venue choice could be influenced by your engagement timeline. For instance, if you must get married quickly, you may find yourself not having ample time to tour as many venues as you want. You and your fiance should discuss timelines and how those will work into your wedding planning.
